One of the four pillars of the Adoption Council of Ontario, PASS has provided adoption-competent, trauma-informed social work services to clients and professionals since February 2013.
PASS offers direct services to clients in and around the GTA as well as indirect counselling and support by way of telephone and email to clients throughout the Province of Ontario. In some cases, PASS serves individuals and families living in various jurisdictions across the country. In recognition of the pervasive and systemic impact of permanency planning and adoption on all parties to the process, PASS services include but are not restricted to consultation, brief counselling, support, referral and advocacy. Consultation, support, referral and advocacy services are also available to community partners and professional service providers province-wide.
Also eligible for PASS services: kinship families; families who have obtained legal guardianship of a child in their care; foster with a view to adoption; and customary care families.
A clinical program, PASS is committed to excellence in the delivery of its services. In recognition of the lifelong impact of adoption and permanency planning on adopted individuals, adoptive families and birth family members (aka adoption constellation members), services are provided for the purposes of enhancing and optimizing the functioning and wellbeing of the clients served, at any and all stages of the adoption and permanency planning process. To this end, PASS interventions also have potential to prevent and help mitigate the risk of adoption disruption and adoption dissolution.
