HAPPY NEW YEAR!

And many thanks to all of you, for your support and involvement and we look forward to working with our clients and partners in 2020.

A New Year always creates opportunities for new beginnings and creative planning. In 2020, the ACO will undertake a new Strategic Planning process to ensure we are fulfilling the needs of our community and working effectively with our partners.

We are also moving forward on some of the new visions we started in Adoption Awareness Month. Our first newsletters of this year will continue to highlight voices in adoption with a particular focus on the voices of adult adoptees.

The importance of the living experience of everyone on adoption and permanency journeys continues as our focus. We are highlighting our expanded focus in our educational webinar series called “Adoption Matters”. We are producing a new webinar on Identity & Belonging. It focuses on the experiences of adopted children and adults in forming a solid identity and finding a sense of belonging. We also have a new webinar on Grief and Loss with Judy Archer. See below for dates and registration information.

AdoptOntario continues its excellence in recruitment and matching and offers its ongoing Online Adoption Events. Learn about sibling groups in “Side by Side” and the unique issues for teens in “Kids for Keeps”. See below for dates and registration information.

Winter offers many Pathways for Permanency 2 trainings for adopted parents. Check out our website for locations and times. See below for dates and registration information.

A new Adoption Comeptency Training for professionals will begin in February. Click here to see the details on our website.

Be in touch with and part of the expanded conversation about the needs of all of us living in adoption and permanency.

Part of listening to all the voices of adoption and permency journeys, is hearing from birth and original family members.

As the year goes on, we hope to hear these voices more often. Over adoption awareness month we were privilaged to feature two stories. One from a birth father whose partner made an adoption plan when she became pregnant and one from a birth mother whose teen and toddler were brought into foster care. You can read them on our blog.
