All teachers have children in their class who are dealing with the impact of trauma and loss in their lives. Some through their journeys of foster care and adoption, and others through immigration as refugees, violence in the home, conflict in parental separation and divorce, or a serious illness or death in the family.

This Workshop has been designed specifically for teachers and educators to build greater awareness of how to create a school culture that emphasizes a positive, safe and welcoming environment for children.Participants will learn:

Join us for our brand new webinar, Getting Started with AdoptOntario! On this webinar, you will learn what AdoptOntario is and how we can be a resource in your adoption journey.

Members play an integral role in the governance of the Adoption Council of Ontario. Members are distinct from volunteers in that members have important legal rights and obligations as determined by legislation governing not-for profit corporations. These rights relate to the governance of the Adoption Council of Ontario and include, among other things, the right to:

  • attend and participate in annual and other meetings of members;
  • receive and review the annual financial statements;
  • vote on matters put forward for approval, including the election of directors;
  • hear about any other business, including reports on ACO's program progress;
  • approve the by-laws and any amendments; and
  • approve significant changes to the purposes of ACO.

The Adoption Council of Ontario is a not-for-profit providing outreach, support and education to all adoptees, adoptive parents, potential adoptive parents, birth families, and adoption professionals in Ontario. We deal with public adoption, private adoption, international adoption and relative adoption. Since 1987, we have been working towards a provincial community where all children have families forever.
