Never Too Late For Family (NTL)

It is unacceptable that after 18 years of age, foster youth no longer have the chance to find a forever family. This program aims to change that.

...No person in and from care should have to accept that their relationships come with expiry dates". - Chloe, aged 22

Heart with words community, food, give, work, love, giving

A young person who ages out of care does so without the one thing they were promised when they entered foster care - a permanent parent to support them and guide them through life.

ACO is committed to creating and piloting a program that is youth-centered and exists in collaboration with community-based programs that work with at-risk youth populations.

This program will include

  • Recruitment and education/preparation of families
  • Support of youth in engaging with a family
  • Programs to support families on the lifelong journey of belonging
  • Collaborating/advising staff working with these youth in other service organizations on how to identify connections and prepare youth for transitioning into family

We have a very clear mandate for this project - giving back to youth who have aged out of care the opportunity to have a family.
