Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and Childhood Trauma with Lauren Ireland, MA, BCBA.
Lauren discusses the causes/contributors, symptoms and life-long impacts of two brain-based, physical disabilities that are not uncommon in children who are currently awaiting an adoptive placement as well as those who have already been placed on adoption: prenatal exposure to alcohol and childhood trauma. Of equal importance, parents and professionals alike will learn about the skill-based parenting approach as well as the tools and strategies that have proven to be highly effective with these children. Given the disproportionate number of waiting children with suspected FASD, anyone who is parenting a child with confirmed or suspected FASD or historical trauma, or both, as well as any potential adoptive and permanency planning parents or professionals working with children and families will benefit enormously from this thought-provoking, highly informative, educational webcast.

Objectives: By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
