An 8 session (24 Hour) Curriculum

Pathways to Permanence 2 is a 24-hour specialized series of classes designed for foster and adoptive parents, kinship caregivers, and guardians who are parenting children who have experienced trauma and loss as a part of their history.
The course provides tools, techniques and information that empower participants to effectively parent their children.

Location: Children's Aid Society-Brant - 14 Henry Street, Brantford, ON N3R 1Z8
Time: Thursdays, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
***A group meal will be provided 30 minutes prior to the beginning of each class.
* Please note that for some of our Pathways offerings, we are adding an extra session, for a total of 9 sessions instead of the usual 8. This extra time will enable us to move forward with the next phase of our Pathways evaluation project with the University of Toronto. Please see sessions listed above to determine if this applies.
Barbara Jones Warrick, M.Ed. Counselling
Barbara is a mental health professional at Vanier Children’s Services and in private practice. She is a child and family therapist specializing in play therapy and provides individual, family and group services to diverse populations. She is also a member of the Early Years Team at Vanier. Barbara trains and instructs professionals in various forms of therapy. Barbara brings her own personal experience as an adopted person to her work.
Who: This training is for parents and caregivers where a placement has already occurred.
Cost: This course is being offered at NO cost to participants thanks to funding from the Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services.

Certificate: A certificate of completion will be provided.
Childcare: Child care will be provided to children 3 years of age and older. Childcare MUST be booked in advance; please include your childcare needs when you register. The deadline to register for childcare is January 3, 2018, at 9:00 am.
Please note, Ontario's PRIDE curriculum is equivalent to The Kinship Center's Pathways to Permanence 1 curriculum.
