They Call Me Momma
by: Karen Moore
As a social worker, working in children's mental health, I thought I was in a good position for parenting children who joined our family through a journey of permanency. I was in for a surprise (and still get surprised to this day:)
Join me as I share with you my journey into permanency with our 4 children and the many joys, challenges and learnings we have had along the way. Learn what I knew, what I thought I knew and what I still needed and need to learn, to navigate life with 4 children who had lives before they joined with our lives!

On the guest speakers…
“Great speaker. Some of the stuff she said might have been a bit scary (although realistic) but tempered with real life success.”
“A great presentation from a practitioner's perspective; honest, thoughtful, and allowed for great discussion and information sharing.”
On the workshops…
“[The facilitator] has an energy and way of communicating that was informative and engaging.”
“Lots of clear, helpful, useful, and practical examples and strategies. We better understand the concept of attachment, its issues, and enjoyed being able to share our thoughts and questions as a group.”
This Youth Conference will provide a space for young people with adoption as part of their story to be creative and connect. Youth ages 14+ are welcome to attend. Registration for this day is required, please click here to register.
*Please note that the Youth Conference Day happening in conjunction with ACO Education Day is not child care.
If you are a pre-adoptive parent, and are not yet familiar with the adoption process, you would benefit from attending our How to Adopt seminar before Education Day to learn more about adopting in Ontario! You can find an upcoming How to Adopt by clicking here.
