Such a Light in the Darkness

In 24 hours of training, I now have understanding of all the behaviours our child is exhibiting. I have multiple strategies to use which are working, a support group, and connection to professionals for further assistance.

The childcare was hugely helpful in logistically allowing me to attend. It was engaging enough for my high energy 11-year-old to return each day. It was helpful and hopeful to see our kids interacting during meals in confident ways, some helping others.

I am astounded that this experience and education was made possible [with government funding]. In six years, the thousands of dollars we have spent on assessments, and professionals; the hundreds of hours spent; and the dozens of professionals we have met have not provided us with anything close to the answers and resources from Pathways to Permanence through the Adoption Council of Ontario. We will still be required to fund further resources for our family, so this was a many-layered gift. This has been such a light in the darkness. Thank you so much!
