Lundeen Family

This year, you can come dressed up as your favourite super hero or villain to participate in our costume contest (or just for fun)!

Brampton Batman and Batmobile

We’ve coaxed Batman out of his lair and he will be driving to the park in his Batmobile to take pictures with the kids! But just in case you need more convincing, we asked the Lundeen family about what keeps them coming back to FunWalk every year!

What impact do you hope to have in fundraising for FunWalk?

It's our chance to give back to an organization that offered and continues to offer us so much support before, during and after we adopted our three children.

Why is FunWalk an important event to you?  What is your favourite part of the event?

Our family loves the entire event and we look forward to it every year. Our three children eagerly and proudly sport their new FunWalk shirts. Then they immediately head for the warm ups, dancing and noise makers of course!  They love the high fives and little prizes they get at each check point during the walk. We have a tradition of taking a few family pictures at the finish line to acknowledge our accomplishment.

Then comes the best park - the BBQ and games! We love watching our children spread out and try everything with unlimited freedom which gives us parents a chance to chat and network. We really enjoy reconnecting with returning families and making new connections too! It's also a great opportunity for us to say ‘hi’ and ‘thanks’ to the amazing ACO staff. The event is always well organized and we look forward to the annual theme. Our three superheroes are ready for action this September!

Why is the work of the ACO important to the adoption community?

We started the adoption process through the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto in May 2008. We adopted a 2 1/2 year old daughter and 7 month old son in November 2009 and a 10 month old son in August 2012. During the adoption processes, adoption placements and post adoption we consulted the ACO many times.

There is so much information available from online support to in person workshops on a variety of topics. We continue to use it as our first point of contact whenever there is a need. We have also make sure everyone we know in the adoption community is aware of the vast level of information and support the ACO provides.

Your investment in FunWalk helps youth like Jessica!

What can you do?
